The purpose of this study is to examine the major reasons for which the bachelor degree students in the University of Tehran decide to change their field of study. For data collection, 107 students from 12 faculties were interviewed and they filled out questionnaires of their field of study.
The results show that there is upward trend among students for changing their field of study. It seems that this serious problem demands a profound reflection and proper solutions. Finally, in this research, some solutions have been suggested in order to tackle with this problem, such as:
1. Using a comprehensive transaction processing system (TPS) for educational planning and for the admission of students.
2. Establishing counseling centers in universities and high schools, to guide students.
3. Admitting just the students with higher motivation for education, through interview.
